I was thinking that it would be nice to try the NHS rating averaging system for our club racing. Using an alias and scoring the fleet two ways, we might be able to hand out double the number of trophies, always a good idea.
That said, we would want to score individual races using PHRF ratings. It’s an A-B system, time on time, with the values 650/520.
Is there a way to use NHS averaging principles with our local rating system? I can’t seem to find the NHS scoring method anywhere. Would this push us toward the external spreadsheet version of Sailwave NHS?
NHS works on top of an initial rating system, e.g. PHRF.

Do you mean NHS or NHC [RYA]? If you mean NHS I have not heard of
that before. Could you give more information?
If you meant NHC [RYA] then Malcolm has already given you a point
to more information. Sailwave has two ways of using RYA NHC;
internal mode which is slightly faster and an external mode using
an Excel spreadsheet template [which is supplied as part of the
install]. The Excel method allows one to see all the calculations
and methods used.
The messaging functionality that is built-in to Sailwave allowing
bi-directional communication between Sailwave and Excel, can be
used with a custom developed Excel spreadsheet which allows one to
have / develop a custom rating adjustment system.
This has just been done to implement the Irish ECHO rating system
within Sailwave. The ISORA series in 2018 is going to be triple
scored, using aliases, with IRC, RYA NHC & ECHO ratings.
Note - Sailwave only works in the way described above on a
Microsoft Windows system with Microsoft Excel installed.
