Olympic Scoring - Submission 025

Hi Colin

Files attached for Women's Sailboard regatta at Melbourne.
It would appear that the only thing missing from Sailwave is an additional tie break rule limited to
the competitors in the Medals race.
This should normally be the top 10 but I suggest that if it is not too much extra coding, you allow
the user to confirm 10 or change it.

The results in the attached SW file show that there are two ties in the final top 10.

Under normal rules HKG8 should finish ahead of CHN8 but as CHN8 beat HKG8 in the Medals race, CHN8
should be 4th

There is also a tie for 6th & 7th but HKG26 beat CHN6 by both methods

Over to you Colin.
When you make changes, don't forget that non-medals race boats will still need tie-breaks based upon
normal App A.
If you have a hierarchy of Sub025 rules then if still a tie, App A, I think this should work but
would be happier if someone- else confirmed my logic

Can't wait to monitor Miami, starting Jan 22 ;-(
Hopefully there will be more entries & we can test the flights, Qual & Finals system at the same
time

MARK SCH
Do you have any contacts with Miami who could give us info on daily flights & re-assignment if they
are needed???

Regards
Ralph

I'm going to be at Miami on the laser course doing the finishes. I've
also been asked to help with the new scoring. I used Sailwave for the
Laser NA in Seattle this summer and have been trying to test for
Miami using that data base. We are going to be using flights and I'm
having a hard time getting the results I want. I might be
misunderstanding how flights are being used in the program. Basically
the laser full rigs will be divided into 4 groups. 2 groups will
start at a time. I got the software to assign the groups but when I
enter results it scores by finishing place rather then allowing
multiple firsts. I've checked that I want multiple firsts in the
scoring set up. Any help would be appreciated. I might just be
doing things out of sequence. Step by step set up for this type of
scoring would be nice too.

thanks

Leslie

Hi Leslie,

Just a preliminary Q - for the Miami event, are the competitors changing
flight allocation for each race (or every n races) or are the competitors
staying in the same flight throughout the event and then each start just has
different pairing of flights, e.g. AB and CD for one race then AC and BD for
the next etc; from your description it sounds like the latter (which is not
App LE ADD C) and is in fact easier to set up than App LE Add C. Attach the
SIs if you like to your reply.

Sailwave can do both types of flight scoring and the new format with the
exception of ties, which will be complete very soon.

Colin
