ORC import

Hi Jon,

I have a PHRF event coming up this weekend, and the OA is going to

give me a CSV file to load the SW file as usual.

I have also been handed a Sailwave file with ORC triple number

ratings loaded, since the event would like to use ORC for qualifying
boats as well as standard PHRF. I will alias the ORC division
boats.

Is there a handy way to combine these two files, so I don't have to

re-enter all the ORC ratings? If I could get the ORC data out, I
could attach it to the spreadsheet maybe. Or possibly dump the ORC
ratings in to a proper rating file and have access to it that way?

All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks,

jrc

Hi John,

If I am understanding the problem correctly, it sounds like a data manipulation question rather than a Sailwave question so here goes:

  1. Export the ORC Sailwave file as CSV
  2. Import both the ORC CSV and the Entry CSV into separate tables or sheets in your spreadsheet of choice
  3. Add an ORC column to the entry table and use a VLOOKUP command to lookup the relevant line from the ORC table
  4. Export the new entry table as CSV and import in to SW as usual

I hope that helps

Ian

Ian,

My File menu doesn't show an export option. There is "Export series

summary to Windows Clipboard" but everything else seems to relate to
imports.

What am I missing? Maybe it's somewhere else? Using current

download.

Thanks,

Hi John,

Apologies, I was going from memory of the UI but you are absolutely correct, the way to get the data fro Sailwave to a spreadsheet is via the clipboard, not a CSV file.

Just use export “Export series summary to Windows Clipboard”, then select a single cell at the top left in the spreadsheet and paste the data.

Perfect. Should have experimented a bit. It’s all there, including
the ORC windrats. Excellent. Very helpful.

Thanks, Ian.
