Hi Tony,
Sailwave can handle way more than 40 competitors, so please can
you explain why the question?
When you create a new new series from a template you get prompted
for the initial number of competitors and the initial number of
races in pop-up window. So just enter the values most appropriate
to you.
If you have an existing series you can always make a copy and use
that as the basis for a new series and clear out the results by
using the option on the Edit menu.
To add extra competitors to an existing file use either the
button on the Toolbar or the Edit menu option.
I have had over 200 competitors in a file and everything has
worked fine.
Kind regards,
Huw

Hi Tony, I See Huw has posted regarding your question. I was just wondering as you use the word template if you were using the pursuit calculator which is part of the SWPH program https://sites.google.com/site/eskdalesite/home/swph But I had a look and the template that this uses is suitable for up to 200 competitors without modification.

I am using the NHC3 rating system. The Excel spreadsheet it uses to calculate the next rataing only has 40 rows for competitors.
Hi Tony,
No problem you can easily add extra rows to the template.
Obviously the more rows you have the larger the files will be and the slower the calculations - so that is why I chose 40 as the default but to add extra lines follow this which was posted on this user group 20 Mar 2015.
First some background info
Sailwave is using a template SWNHC3.xls to specify the rules for the calculation This template by default is in Public Documents - Sailwave - Templates folder (C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sailwave\Templates) although you can change the folder in Sailwave - Setup - Global Options - Folders
First make a backup copy of this file then open it in Excel
Now lets assume you want to add another 10 lines
Click on the 9 of row 9 and while holding the button down move the mouse to 18 so that you have highlighted 10 rows as below
Now right click and select Copy
Now right click on the 19 and select Insert Copied Cells - see below
You have now inserted 10 more rows we just need to tell Sailwave that this template now has 10 more rows available. To do this click on the Config worksheet and change the SheetSize value from 40 to 50
Switch back to the Main sheet and select cell A4 (This is just a blank cell where the selection will appear when it runs) now save the modified sheet (must be SWNHC3.xls) and you are ready to go
The size of the sheet you use would depend upon you fleet size. It will work fine up to 200 boats but as you increase the size the spreadsheet gets larger and hence slower. Although the rows you copied look empty at first glance the cells do contain formulae.
Any problems please come back to me

Good morning,
Trying to organize a simple rating race for 25 to 45 foot boats, with TCF rating system. How should I configure sailwave for this. I’ve put the rating system, all the boat data, but cannot show both the elapsed as well as the corrected time. Can you help me.
Thanks for this.

Hi Walter,
In the series summary you usually only see scored points. It is
possible to see different information in ‘series summary’ view but
only one piece of information per race. To see elapsed and
corrected time for a race you need to print the the results for a
race.
When publishing results in the first window that appears the left
hand side allows selection of information about series summary,
although to see information different from scored points you would
change that elsewhere, and the right hand side allows the
selection of individual race results.
Jon the current developer of Sailwave posted a reply to another
question along these lines a few weeks ago.
Kind regards,

Thanks John, That worked.
Is there a way to display the rating used in each race with the race results. Maybe a box to tick, the same way as the BCR. My members like to see what rating they have, compare it to others and see how it is changing with each race.
Tony Matta
Hi Tony,
Yes you can display rating used in each race. Sounds like you
might have set the rating column to not be published. Click the
columns button on the toolbar, find rating and double click. Check
it is published.
You could can also turn on the New Rating column to be published
and then your competitors could see the rating that will be used
for the next race.
Kind regards,
Huw

Hi Tony,
In addition to Huw’s reply
One option is to press F6 then R before you publish then when you publish the series you will get the ratings displayed in the cells instead of the points. This is nice if they want to see how their ratings have changed with all the races…
Alternatively if you publish individual race you will get the ratings used for each race.

The rating column shows the first rating and the new rating is for the next race not yet sailed.
If I publish race 1, race 2, and race 3, they all show the same rating and new rating.
The actual rating for each race seems to be stored somewhere since you can display it for all races with the F6R. Is it not possible to display it as a column when publishing each race?
Is it doable in a future improvement?
