People sailing different boats

During club series some people sail a different boat for various reasons. We still let their points count towards the series. However when using Sailwave in PY format you have to enter the other boat as a new entry. Is ther any way to overcome this, I have tried setting the points by hand using the RDG code but Sailwave will not score the series.

Any ideas.

Hi Robin

You can set a race specific rating for any competitor in any race from Edit+Result - i.e. by editing the appropriate result cell.

Note however that allowing competitors to sail classes with different configurations or completely different classes during a series, seriously complicated doing a PY return to the RYA. For this reason, at our club, a competitor has to enter a series with a boat configuration and that’s what they get scored on, if they sail another boat we enter them as another competitor - they will never win a series like this but i also stops competitors using a spinny in light winds and not in heavy winds etc.

regards,

Colin

Hi Colin

Thanks that works well, and I take your point about what influence this will have on the rating estimator. in order to overcome this I have taken out the results scored in the different boat to obtain a more raelistic rating estimate.

Cheers

Robin
