I’m not sure I quite understand exactly what you are doing. But some suggestions.
Have a look at the Alias features of Sailwave so this way you can have the same competitor competing under the Class Handicap and also under a personal Handicap. You only have to enter the results once and Sailwave calculates the results for both and you can publish them together.
Do you change the personal handicap after each Race or after each event?
Sailwave allows for the handicap of each competitor to be different for each race.
If its on a Race by Race basis - I’ve written some software which reads the results of a specified race from Sailwave into Excel and then Excel calculates the new Handicap and writes this into Sailwave for the next race. If this is what you are looking for let me know.

handicap) after each race.
Your program that modifies the PH via excel
seems to be the sort of thing I am looking for.
However, I have been told and have read
that Sailwave uses the “Alias” feature to allow PH’s BUT I
CANNOT find this feature.
Where is it? I am generally quite good at
working programs but this has eluded me. Even using “Alias” in the
help menu has not helped.
Please point me in the right direction.

As has been said, aliasing is found under the User Interface tab, but you don’t need it if you just want the series run under Personal Handicap. Useful if you want multiple handicap results though (in our case, Personal Handicap for prizes, Lancing Correction Factor to prove a point, and PY for the die-hards ).
As for changing handicaps after every race: (like others) been there, done that, got the tee shirt, but now prefer the golf handicap system where handicaps are only changed if there is a noticeable change in performance - most competitors seem happy with this when you get it ‘right’, 'cos they like to have a harder handicap - ‘proves’ they’re faster - but equally they like to win on handicap
