Philanthropic Android Developer Wanted

Hi Sailwave Users,

I have an idea in mind for the creation of an application that could be used on finish boats primarily but could be extended to assist race teams on start boats with the start sequence. Essentially it is a redevelopment of a PC application that was written for my sailing clubs several years ago in Visual Basic running on a Windows PC (Windows 98 actually).

Are there any Android developers in the Sailwave community that might be interested in developing such an application? As a philanthropic gesture for the sailing community

The app would ouputa CSV file that race results programs like Sailwave can import.

Kind regards,
Huw

Hi,

I have made Sailing Stopwatch and Saling Rule26watch for Symbian phones for my own use some years ago.

I started to convert those appplications for Android about a week ago.

Now the first version Sailing Stopwatch is ready. (I had to learn Java first so it took a bit loger time)

This version does not save times in a file it just ‘prints’ times on screen and you can add the sailnumers for times afterwards.

The final version will output times in csv file for Sailwave.

I have also some other options in my mind.

This application needs to have Android 2.2 or newer.

I can send the first version by e-mail, if someone is intterested to test it.

SUG Members,

I withdraw the request contained in my original posting as it cuts

directly across work done by a member of the Sailwave User Group
(SUG).

I apologise unreservedly to the member of the (SUG) who has devised

a process using an existing available application that produces a
CSV for import into race results programs that can take data from a
CSV. The process is applicable to a much wider range of electronic
environments than the application I described. I will leave it to
the individual to release details when and if they feel it
appropriate.

The application I described is much more complicated than necessary

for recording electronically and then sending ashore electronically
finish information; it also has a much much smaller audience.

Again apologies to the SUG member whose work I have cut across.

Kind regards,

Huw
