Hi,
I let the help pop up messages turn off. How do I get them turned back on in versions 36 and 37b? There is a note that says it can be done on the Tools menu, but I think the feature is now missing.
Thanks
George Gardner
Hoping to see if anyone can answer two hopefully simple questions;
-How do you uninstall Sailwave? (I do not want to get rid of it, just
need to remove it from an old computer that is being inherited by
another party)
-On my new machine, Windows Me O/S, when the opening graphic comes up,
it does not fill the designated space, leaving a white boarder around
the graphic. I am thinking it is a setting on the Laptop's display
options, however, even after playing around with these, no success in
correcting it. (The laptop's monitor is a UXGA TFT monitor, with an 4x
video acceleration card, if this is in anyway relevant.)
Thank you for your advice, the software has been working very well, it
is a valuable tool for Regatta management.
Regards,
-Doug Gordon

Hi Doug,
How do you uninstall Sailwave? (I do not want to get rid of it, just
need to remove it from an old computer that is being inherited by
another party)<
1. Delete the program files/sailwave folder.
2. right-click on your task bar at the bottom of the screen and select
properties - then via the Advanced tab and the Remove button remove the
Sailwave start menu entry.
I'll add an uninstall file tonight.

There was a bug which I fixed recently WRT the splash screen. Try the
latest beta and see it it's any better.

My pleasure, thanks.

Hi George,
Edit the file called c:\windows\sailwav2.ini (or c:\winnt\sailwav2.ini) with
a text editor like Notepad and delete all entries in the [SkipOneTime]
section. i.e. delete all lines after [SkipOneTime] of the form x=n but stop
before the next section which may be something like [PickList].
Alternatively just delete sailwav2.ini but you'll also delete lots of other
stuff too like the history list etc.

Colin

I'm trying to use SailWave for the first time, and I find that I get a "Laps" column in the published results. Is there any way to remove this, as it seems a bit strange in a one-way distance race....?
(I've tried both version 36 and 37 beta)

Hi Peter,
Sailwave has no way to know that a race is a point-to-point race, so I would
agree that for some races a laps column is inappropriate; it's the general
solution. There is an item on the todo list to not publish the laps column
if all lap values are null for any race; I'll move it up the list a bit...

Colin J
Should "Laps" called "Rounds"...?

I haven't run any races where I would want the Laps column - even for a "twice around" round-the-buoys race it is not needed since a boat that does not complete both laps is scored DNF.
(having written that, I find that the next batch of messages in the mailing list deal with multi-lap races... All I can say is that here in Vancouver BC, we don't use a multi-lap format.)

It's common in fleets where the spread of handicaps is large because it
allows the race committee to finish everybody at kinda sorta the same time
by setting a medium sized course with different classes doing a different
number of laps. Some clubs go further and allow a different number of laps
within a class to cater for beginners/experts. It's not ideal especially if
the wind is gradually increasing/decreasing but it does mean that races can
be run for a fleet containing say Hobie 14s and Inter 20s.

Colin
