What is the best way to preserve an existing rating library when
installing a Sailwave upgrade?
I renamed the old rating library file before the upgrade but I could
not change the path to the renamed file. Eventually I lost all the
data in my old rating library and now I have to re-input all the
portsmouth no's.
Sailwave doesn't overwrite rating libraries when new versions are installed.
No action on your part should be safe. Sailwave did go through a phase a
while ago where by it zapped 'em due to a bug but it seems OK now. CJ

i beg to differ with you on that one, Colin. I just upgraded from 38 to 39
beta 1 and it blew away the USPN beach cat classes i had in mine (there were
just a few of them, so it was no biggie). when i opened my newly installed
39 beta 1 there was nothing in the rating library except for the bunch of
Hobies it comes with. Which, i still think is odd, are listed without being
associated with a rating scheme.

I tried to break it on various machines and failed; the rating lib is
preserved in all my tests. Do you always install to the same folder or to a
different one to evaluate new versions; it the latter you get a default lib,
with a few token boats in it for the new installation. Do you or anybody
else have any more info I can work with?
Regards,
Colin
