Over the last month started having intermittent problem saving files ( comes up with a ‘you don’t have permissions’ message ). Saving ‘as’ works fine. and then repeat saving works fine. No real pattern to it Windows 10.
No revision to Sailwave for 18 months, and work fine til recently, so likely an OS issue
Wondering if others have experienced it similar issue?

I always store mine in a Dropbox directory as I then have backups for each change for the last 30 days. I’ve not had any problems with this configuration.
Yes, as you, we use Google Drive, partly for the 30 days change history that Google Drive gives for free ( not many people know that they think Drop Box is the only versioning product), and partly so we can easily correct the results from the club at home.
I’d be very worried if Windows actually did have intermitent permission problems just because of directory location, Windows is already very low in my esteem as an OS but if that were true it should be consigned to the bin.
As it is intermittent in nature, it is most likely something happening with the file status and Google drive whilst probing to check for synchronisation and a combination in the way Sailwave determines file errors ( not saying Sailwave is wrong, but it is possible that the return codes checked pre-save have evolved ).
Impossible for me to test in any meaningful way, so I’ll just make sure stuff is up to date next time I visit the club and hope the issue goes away just in the same way that it came.
I doubt it will ever happen, due to the investment in the current program’'s depth of features and that there simply isn’t commercial demand, but I do await the day eagerly where there is a platform agnostic, cloud ready, UX designed scoring system.
The Versioning is also available in pCloud and I have also used that without any issues. If it is possible it would be interesting to try saving it to Dropbox instead to see if it still occurs. - Jon
