I am now running Sailwave V1.95 build 6. When I start Sailwave I get a
box in the middle of the screen with OK in it, if I click it all is ok
until I try to publish any results. All I get is Alt penalty.html if i
click that I get Access denied.
I was running the same build with XP with no problems.

Hi Collin,
I have the same problem running Sailwave 1.95b11 under WinXP
professional with restricted user rights.
1. The <Publish> pull-down menu is populated with only one entry: "Alt
Penalty.htm". When I click on it, Sailwave responses with a standard
dialog with an "Access Denied" message.
2. I can not open the four examples in the <File> pull-down menu. When
I try, I will get a 'funny' looking "Access denied" dialog, probably
not generated from Sailwave.
3. In <Setup>/Global Options/Folders I found that the default place
for ratings, templates and styles is in the "program files"/Sailwave
folder of Windows. From my experience with Vista the "program files"
folder is not the best place to store these things.
did u install as a windows admin or a std user - i
would think you’d need to be admin under vista - agree about folders -
i have started moving things - not done templates yet… for example
all global stuff is in registry now…
Colin,
I have tested both ways to install Sailwave under WinXP and both with
the same result.
The user account with restricted rights (group "users" in the english
version of Windows I think)) is the normal one provided by WinXP
professional. No changes made to the preset access rights.
When I extend the access rights for the "users" account for the
<Program Files\Sailwave> folder to "change"/"write" everything works
well. So it seems that something in Sailwave needs "write" access
rights to the installation folder to build the "Publish" pull-down menu.
hi harald, yes as far as i know sailwave needs to
be installed as ‘admin’ - but can be used by ‘user’… i thought the
help file or the website said that but maybe not - ill check and
update…
I'm using a Sailwave folder in 'Documents' This seems to work properly, but...
Backup by Norton 360 does not save the BLW files... I've lost a lot of important data in a HDD crash.
Someone had problems with rating files under Vista as there is a system of hidden shortcuts or aliasses that can biase Sailwave.
About 'drag and drop' to move folders, you can turn the problem by copying the folder and files, thes deleting the original files.

I’m just trying to establish contact with them as I’m not satisfied by the fact that a lot of important files, created with other softwares than MS Office (read OpenOffice.org files, BLW files, …) or other than standard Microsofy multimedia files are lost.
The problem is that even with the last version of Norton 360, you cannot use wildcards when you add files tp the “others” groups. So you have to list ALL files individually.
For OpenOffice.org the solution is quite simple, save the files in an MS Office format. For BLW, I found no convenient solution.

hi philippe,
do u have a suppor agreement with norton - if so can you ask them why .blw files are not backed up (by default?).
I'll do some more work on the install so that the files are put in the proper common docs folder.
