problems writing to global option file in a non-administrator XP account.

I can install the program (1.94 version) as an administrator and then
put a desktop shortcut on the non-administrator account desktop. All
good.

But when I run the program (from the non-admin account) I get the
message:
"Sailwave cannot write to the global options file. Sailwave will still
operate correctly, but none of your preferences will be saved."

It is a bit annoying that the preferences don't get saved.

Any ideas?

(I have already tried relaxing all the permissions on the c:/program
files/sailwave folder so that anyone can do anything)

Anyone else found this problem? Thanks for looking!

In long distance races it is a common practice to access a time panelaty to a boat that is OCS. For instance

Trans Pacific Yacht Race

“Any boat that is on the course side at her starting signal and which does not return to the pre-start side of the line to properly start will be protested and will be penalized two hours of elapsed time in lieu of being scored OCS”

Round the Island Race

“A boat that infringes RRS 29.1 will be scored with a time penalty of 5% of the boat’s elapsed time rounded to the nearest second, unless the Race Committee decides that the boat has gained a significant advantage in the race, in which case she will be scored as OCS. A boat that is scored with an OCS time penalty shall not be eligible for any ‘Line Honours’ prizes, and a boat which is scored as OCS will be ineligible to receive a finishing position.”

Does sailwave have any method of adding a percentage time penalty or actual time penalty to a boats elapsed or corrected time?

Thanks

I would be very interested in useful responses to this problem. In
Poole Yacht Racing Association we have a similar need as in one class
we penalise 1% of elapsed time per adult crew in excess of 2. (I have
posted on this site to no avail!(msg 7190))

I am currently having to work round by fugding the start time of those
attracting a penalty. It is indirect and requires running the program
twice, once to arrive at an elapsed time and second to adjust start
times having used a simple excel program to work out the adjustments.

Hopefully some one will have an answer as to how to score races that do not disqualify OCS boats but instead have a fixed or percentage time penalty which is added to a competitors elapsed or corrected time.

Thanks
