[proposal]Documentation

Documentation is sadly lacking from Sailwave and I want to do something
about it.

I propose a database-driven on-line scheme so that I can add it to at any
time and also so that users can add footnotes (tips and tricks,
clarifications etc) to the standard text. e.g. see the on-line manual at
www.php.net. I further propose to snapshot the on-line documentation at
each major release for off-line purposes and inclusion in the release.

Any ideas about this gratefully received; especially if somebody has done
something similar before or if anybody knows any free general purpose PHP
scripts that may help. As far as I can see it shouldn't be too hard to
knock up PHP to do this though...

Regards,
Colin J

I suggest a Wiki. So everybody can write on this documentaion!

Take a look at hotscripts.com and search for wiki. Then try out.

There seem to be numerous wikis (what _does_ that stand for?) including a
php version called tikiwiki - do you have any recommendations? - I'll be
using PHP4 with mySQL. They look like a perfect solution....

The mother of the WikiWeb: http://c2.com/cgi/wiki. This site describes the
idea behind a wiki.

For PHP / MySQL I recommend:
http://www.wakkawiki.com/WakkaWiki (easy and simple)
http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/ (easy and simple)
http://tikiwiki.sourceforge.net/ (wiki and Content Management System, take a
look at!)
