proposed change for aliases and scoring system overrides

I notice there is some current discussion on aliases at the moment.

Last March I posted a thread:-

"Using aliases: can someone help me?"

and the upshot was that we couldn't do what we wanted!

I would very much appreciated it if you could revisit this if you are unaware of what we are trying to do.

In a nut shell in any series some boats race 2 handed, (but not in all races as occasionally they may be fully crewed). We wish to give a series result in both the fully crewed series and then also just for those racing 2 handed as a separate series. The handicap/rating used would be the same.

Mike,

My understanding of what Colin has proposed would allow you to

achieve what you are trying to do. I am sure Colin will comment.

The difficulty as I see it is that a 'flag' needs to be set against

a race for a competitor/boat to identify if it was fully crewed or
two handed and I don’t think that has been thought through for
implementation by Colin, but it would be interesting to include a
mechanism to do so.

If a 'flag' could be set against a race for a competitor/boat that I

think Colin’s new paradigm would be able to do what you are looking
for.

Kind regards,

Huw

I’m going quiet. Will save for Redmine issue
tracking. NB: this (Redmine) allows you to log bugs/suggestions
etc and track them and comment on them. It complements the SUG
and maybe some issues will be formally raise after some SUG
discussion.
