I am experimenting with trying to identify the competitors that will be awarded “prizes” at the end of each series. New for this year, our RI states “Awards will
be issued for 50% (rounded up, e.g. two awards for 3 competitors) of the competitors starting in each fleet in each series.” I have configured the Prizes page (from the Prizes button) to have 2 categories (Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker fleets) and then enable
the “Publish a prize winners table” in the Publish setup. While this works OK, is there a better way to accomplish the goal? As currently implemented the number of awards has to be hardcoded/selected in the “Prize -> Edit -> Number of prizes in this category”.
Is there a way to make this a formula such that the scorer does not need to manually select the value for each series? Also, is it possible to customize the table header to something other than “Prizes”?
Another option could be a column in the Summary table, but I am not sure how this could be implemented. The Qualification profile could be used, but would need
to have the meaning and codes modified.
While we have small fleets, others may benefit from this.
Hi Tom. Have a look at the program SWPrize. Details are on this forum and the Sailwave web site. You can configure this to give prizes for different numbers of competitors. So for the windsurfing events in the UK it automatically lists prizes depending upon the number of eligible competitors. It can also combine prizes for the same competitor. Making prize giving s bit shorter.

I am having some issues with SWPrize. Attached are the .blw, .prz, and Prizes.htm. The first set of prizes for Overall is done correctly, but the second set
for Laser is missing the 1st place. I am using Sailwave 2.24.0.
Also, I am using Windows 10 and if Edge is open when I launch Sailwave, the menus (e.g., Edit) are inactive. Once I close Edge, the menu become active. This
behavior is the same if I launch Sailwave by itself or if I double-click a .blw file that is associated with Sailwave.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

Jon,
Thanks. I will try it out and it most likely will fit the bill.
Have a great day and thanks for all of your support.

The only change I have made is to re-type the the fleet name for
competitor B Gosse, this seems to have fixed the problem. It is
something I have found very occasionally that for some reason,
although a text string looks perfectly OK on the screen or when
printed it is ‘corrupted’ with a hidden character.
What led me to this was the fact that B Gosse appeared in the
overall results but not in the Laser results in the Prizes table.

I reset the fleet name for B. Gosse via retyping and also selecting from the available fleet names. All were unsuccessful. Attached is the result I get.

I downloaded the newer version of SWPrize and it now works as expected. The link that you provided did not work, but I downloaded SWPrize.zip from your windsurfingresults.co.uk
page.
I normally score results twice a week and have EDGE inactivating the menus in Sailwave quite often. Closing and restarting Sailwave does not help. Only closing
Edge helps. Last night when I was scoring, I had the problem with the Sailwave menus not working. I closed EDGE, and the menus were active. This morning that is not the case so it may be some combination of tabs, etc., in Edge. The next time that I have
the problem with EDGE being open and the Sailwave menus being inactive, I can try to collect information if you can let me know what to collect. I realize that just because something does not work on my machine it may work perfectly on other machines
and vice versa.
