Where are you publishing to?
If you publish to a file, you have to open that file with IE (or Firefox) as a separate process.
Or publish to a browser - your browser should open automatically.

I was trying to set up to print from my computer and set up a file to
send results to the person that runs our webpage. Thanks for your
time. When I hit the publish button on sailwave it appears nothing
happens. I expected a pulldown menu like the rest of the buttons
across the top of sailwave window. Thanks for you time, Steve.

Hi,
You are correct in that when you click the Publish menu bar item you should get a drop down list of options. I presume that you have a series open in Sailwave! The following is a description of the Publish process.
If you are still having difficulty then send me the file that is causing you a problem and I will take a look at it.
First thing too understand is that Sailwave does not have any direct printing options, it was deliberate choice by Colin when he started on the Sailwave road. This saved an immense amount of development time & effort which allowed him to concentrate on the core functionality of Sailwave, i.e. producing individual race results and series results using all the nuances that individuals and organisations tend to implement in their scoring systems; Sailwave generates output (series results, individual race results and other pieces of information) in HTML. The output from Sailwave by default is passed directly to your default web browser, which is ‘fired up’ automatically to display the the information requested as a web page. From the web page you can print to any of the printers that you have available via normal print dialogue options, also you can save the page as a web page for uploading to a web site using the Save As option from the File menu option of your web browser (I do this every week).
There are other options available for what to do with the output that Sailwave generates when you use the Publish option:
you can instead of it ‘firing up’ a web browser you can choose to ‘fire up’ a word processor or a spreadsheet application or send the output via FTP to a location on a web server

The “Options” tab gives some more options related to the series summary and the individual race results. The “Notes” tab allows you publish some notes(!) about the information that you are about to publish.
When you click the OK button on this window another window appears that allows you to control the look and feel of the way the information is presented (remember what ever application displays the output from Sailwave that Sailwave is providing it in HTML format). In the first drop down box you can select from a range of ‘look & feel’ templates that are provided with Sailwave, if these do not fit in with the ‘look & feel’ of your website is possible to design & produce your own and add to the list. The second drop down list allows one to choose the destination of the HTML output produce by the Sailwave publish process. The default is to your default web browser but depending on what option you select you might get asked for additional information in input boxes that will appear below your selection.
If you which to make use of the FTP & Email options you should have first configured information on the FTP & SMTP tabs of Global Configuration under the Setup menu bar option.
