I’ve updated the class help to be more
detailed. Updated the translate help to show how to put speech
quotes, back quotes and unprintable characters in values and done
the tweak to remove the extra space in
/ |
(latter not available until beta 2.6.3).
I am aware that I am inconsistent WRT single quotes for example in
html.include(‘footer.txt’) and speech quotes in the
translation/class stuff. I’ll resolve that as some point.

Hallo Colin,
it seems, that you recovered fast from your OP. So Sailwave-users got a great, new publishing feature! Thanks!
I tested Version 2.6.2 with some of my old files. All works fine (including the changes implemented by Jon). I have no problems to change and/or translate the table headings (including nett and total) with a my modified template.
It's easy to change the table appearance with class.set-function. Direct publishing to ms-office products (word / excel) now work without cryptic signs.
There is still the problem to translate "hard-wired" output like the Word "at" in the header of race tables, the predefined "finishes" of race settings or to define a name of the used custom rating system.
I observed an inconsistence with the different notes.
1. not all notes will be published.
2. notes entered by publishing at the notes tab of the window "Publish_web_page_::_results_options" will be displayed after the Series Summary.
3. notes entered at the notes tab of race definition (edit race) will be displayed before the corresponding race table.
4. other notes will not be displayed.
I suggest, that
1. notes of the window series-properties will be published before the head-lines of the series summary (new).
2. notes entered on the notes tab of the window "Publish_web_page_::_results_options" will be displayed after the Series Summary (no change).
3. notes entered at the notes tab of the window "edit race" will be displayed after the corresponding race table (change)
4. notes entered at the notes tab of the window "edit scoring system" will be published after the codes table (new)
5. every notes tab should have a check-field to activate publishing. Unchecking the checkbox "publish notes" in the window "Publish_web_page_::_results_options" only suppresses the notes of this window.
6. I'm convinced that there would not be consensus where to publish the notes of my suggestions No. 2 - 4. So it would be a great opportunity to be able to choose between publish "before" or publish "after".
Cheers
Christof
Let me second Christof's sentiments (at least in part).
I would like to see a note for the series and a note for each race. I don't care much where they are in the program so long as there is some logic to it (i.e., it isn't completely counter-intuitive). I'd like to see all "race notes" published before a race (meaning before the title for the first fleet of that race) and "series notes" published before the series summary (again, before the title for the first fleet).
It would be nice if a race had two kinds of notes. One for publishing and one for comments for historical purposes. That way you wouldn't need a checkbox for publishing - just put the stuff to be published in one box (no note gets published if this box is empty) and the stuff not to be published in another box.
NOTE - If I put some text in the notes tab of a race definition it never publishes. Christof says that for him that publishes before each race. I don't understand - am I doing something wrong?
I'd like to see a generic note to be published at the bottom of the page. This is a note that would publish when checked but not otherwise and could be used for special explanations that apply just to the page being published.

Art,
may be we speak about different notes tabs.
You can put notes in a tab of the series definition (there is a notes tab where you enter name etc. of Your series. Till now those notes will not be displayed.
But you can enter notes for each race. There, where you enter Name and/or date of the individual race, start time and chose finishes-typ (elapsed, etc.). Those notes will be displayed after the summary, in the second part with the individual race data between the name of the individual race and the line with information about the race (no. of competiters etc) and the race table.
cheers

I thought you were referring to the tab named "Notes" that exists for each race. That doesn't show when published. Yes, if I put stuff in the race name and race date boxes it shows when published.

I have to correct this. I have been playing with using page breaks and now I see that these "Notes" certainly ARE showing up when published. I have no idea what I was doing wrong before (I had the "Publish notes" checkbox checked) but now things are working as expected.
A follow-up to the discussion earlier re "Notes."
Ideally, I'd like to be able to define text to display once before all of the series/summary tables rather than before each individual table (or after, as now).
Ideally, I'd also like to be able to define text to display once before all of the race tables rather than before each individual race table (as now). This text might include info about just one fleet or that applied to all of the fleets.
If one publishes all of the races to a single webpage then it probably makes sense to print the races by fleet (fleetA-r1, fleetA-r2, fleetB-r1, etc.) rather than by race (fleetA-r1, fleetB-r1, fleetC-r1, etc.). In that context, repeating a race note for each fleet before the table for that race makes sense. If one publishes each race to a separate webpage (which we do and I see most of the time at other clubs as well) then repeating the same note for every fleet down the page is redundant and looks kind of silly. The workaround I plan on using now is to not use race notes at all and put the information that would normally go into a race note into the published title for the page.
One simple solution to this issue would be to have a checkbox with the "Notes" tab under "Race edit" that would allow publishing before the table for the first fleet only or for every fleet. The default could be to publish for every fleet as now but it really doesn't matter so long as it could be changed. [Christof proposed a checkbox for publishing before or after. I can think of times when after might be better but I cannot think of a time when before would not be acceptable (and I can think of times when after would not be acceptable). So, for simplicity I'd find always before to be acceptable.]
