Pursuit Races, show start times from SWPH in Sailwave

Through the help of sailing mate we have been able to develop a results worksheet for Pursuit Racing where, to process the time penalties based on a race result and then apply that time penalty to the Next Race Start Time, we use the SWPH (modified) file.
But, we haven't been able to work out how to then write the newly calculated Next Race Start time back into Sailwave for each race, and get it to show that Next Race Start Time on the worksheet and on the published file. Help please !

Not sure if you asking how to manually put the times into Sailwave or how to automatically put the times into Sailwave

Manually you need to edit the starts of the Pursuit Race e.g.

Inline images 2

You would of course have a lot more starts that this but this shows the principle

You can then publish the results for that race even though it hasn’t taken place and you will get the starts show as below

again there will be a lot more.

Inline images 1

If however you are asking how to do it automatically. SWPH doesn’t currently have the capability to write starts back into Sailwave as it was originally designed to write Handicap ratings back to Sailwave. However it shouldn’t be too difficult for me to add that ability. If we can decide on the rules of how it would work. If you could send me a copy of the xls file after you have populated it with some data with the starts and their times I’ll see if I can automate it for you.

Thanks Jon.
It is the automatic option I am looking for.
I will send a file tomorrow (our time) - both my Sailwave file and the SWPH work file with real race data.
Again, thank you.

First race of the season and I go back to my old friend 'Sailwave'. I prepared the file months ago. I insert the data, score the 'series' (actually one race) but when I press 'Publish' - nothing happens. What have you done to my programme over the winter?!

Which version of SW?

Do you mean - clicking `Publish', not even the publish window drop down box opens?

Do other option boxes open, e.g. View, Edit, Tools, Setup ?

Hi,

I have fixed it - the trick turned out to be to open Sailwave from the ‘all programs’ menu rather than retrieving it from a file in My Documents. Panic over!

See my previous email. But for info all the other dropdown menus worked but ‘publish’ was dead. I was using the latest version of SW and tried it on both old and recent files. Eventually I tried to open the program from ‘all programs’ and it worked. The original problem is still there but this is a painless work-around,
