PY # for RS 500

I've seen a range from 960 (Y&Y test report and BUSA fleet racing
championships) to 972 (RS 500 class association).
What are any of you guys using at your club?
Thanks

We are currently using 972.

Datchet Water SC use 960. This is because our Sailing Instructions state that ratings are as published in the current edition of the RYA Portsmouth Yardstick Scheme or for catamarans as published on the ISAF SCHRS website. Although there is a option to change this as the SI also go on to state that the Organising Authority may change or allocate a rating to ant boat at it's absolute discretion.

So make sure that what ever rating value you use for any class is allowed by your club SI's. There is wording in the accompanying documentation on the RYA website for inclusion in Sailing Instructions.

Kind regards,
Huw

As our SI's don't mention handicaps, it's all down to mutual consent
In this case, as the RS 500 is not mentioned in the current RYA list,
we will use a trial number, but I was curious as to what others were
using, as the Class Association quotes 972....

On a similar subject what are people using for the RS Tera Pro and RS
Tera Sport as the recommended handicaps from the class association seem
some what generous.

Thanks

I have used 1390 for the Pro & 1470 for the Sport but don’t know where the numbers came from

It's come from the Tera Association. LDC actually suggested a trial
handicap of 1390 and 1450 respectively but the Tera association
suggested 1470 for the sport.

For anyone that's intersted, the new RS Q'Ba trial PY's are as
follows:

       Q'Ba Sport 1260
       Q'Ba Pro 1220

Alan
