Is there a way to get Sailwave to generate adjusted handicaps based on
past performance data, similar to the Hal's PY Analyser.
Our club members have got themselves worked up about the small numbers of dinghies sailing in club racing, or more precisely the cost of providing suport boats for so few boats. Is there a way to set up a sysem for counting the number of races sailed by each competitor in a series (and possibly even giving an overall total). I could of course do this manually but having got used to scoring becoming such an automated process… This would, I suppose, be the number of boat starts per competitor, per class and overall.
Maybe there are other useful statistics that could be generated? Ideas welcome

I usually export the results to Excel and play with them there to get
our annual stats. Within Sailwave would be nice, though (like a lot
of things...).

Not currently, but it is in the development plan with no timescale.
Kind regards,

Gordon,
There is no facility within Sailwave currently do do turnout statistic analysis. When I have wanted that sort of information, like Mike I have exported to a spreadsheet.
The development plan for Sailwave shows the possibility of a scripting facility which might allow the generation of such information.
It must be remembered that Sailwave was developed for the scoring of races and the generation of series results. Sailwave does provide that now very well, the asked for additions tend to now to be outside the envelope of scoring races and producing series results That does not mean it is relevant when other the generation of additional information from the raw information is requested.
I suppose the biggest pieces of functionality that is being asked for that is currently missing are
- the production of Personal Handicap ratings according to different criteria
- generation of annual rating returns for the RYA & US Sailing
We all need to remember that Colin has done all the development solo (acknowledged that this is due to the development environment that Colin has available) and responded over the last few years to most peoples request for functionality and bug fixes promptly. Sailwave is still being downloaded approximately once every hour! It is in use by many hundreds if not thousands of clubs all over the world for free. Note - that there 1233 members of the Sailwave User Group.
Kind regards,
Huw

Thanks, I learnt today how to export to Excel and use some of the functions.
