I wondered if anyone had a 2010 rating file for PY. I've just lost mine during a PC rebuild!
I am using Sailwave for Chanonry SC results - www.chanonry.org.uk
Many thanks

Graham,
Thanks for responding. I actually meant a Sailwave .csv rating file; should have been more specific - sorry!
All,
I can convert the RYA doc unless anyone else has what I'm looking for.
Richard
There's one in the files area of this group list 2010pys.csv
I just slightly altered last year's file and remanamed it - tehre are only about 5 chages that affect our club - Albacore, Moth, Phantom and some others I can't remember

Is PY the acronym for Portsmouth Yardstick. It seems obvious, but I too want to use this information but I'm a beginner with Sailwave and am trying to avoid stumbling along my learning curve.
Thanks

I posted another earlier reply a few minutes ago. Then went to check out the 2010pts.csv file. Saw that it is Portsmouth Yardstick. However now I'm wondering what RYA represents.
I'm planning to explore using Sailwave with Portsmouth Yardstick handicaps based on the 4 wind speed ranges for a mixed fleets which include keel boats, multihulls, sportboats and centerboard boats.
I'm very familiar with the Portsmouth Yardstick system presented on US Sailings website and have utilized this information in spreadsheets for many years. However, I'm now giving in to pressures to utilize Sailwave. I'm a long time multihull racer, trying to find my way into the graces of an established yacht club comprised primarily keelboats with a sprinkling of odd monohulls and centerboard and multihulls that don't have PHRFs published in the official PHRF books our handicap committee subscribes to.
If anyone else is already doing something like this, I'd greatly appreciate receiving a copy of your csv? file so that I could see how you're using Sailwave to satisfy your requirements.
Thanks,
Sailor Bob

The Portsmouth Yardstick (PY) is a handicapping system used primarily in small-boat sailboat racing. The Portsmouth numbers are administered by US Sailing in the United States and the Royal Yachting Association in the United Kingdom. The two systems are similar, the US version uses handicap numbers scaled to a reference boat of 100 handicap, while the RYA version uses handicap numbers scaled to a reference boat of 1,000 handicap.

I have been trying for a week in Sailwave to figure out how to score a set of boats using PHRF numbers (start 1) and a different set of boats using Portsmouth values (start 2) in the same routine. The PHRF boats are all set up with their own PHRF1 fleet, with PHRF ratings, and the Portsmouth boats are all in their own Portsmouth fleet, with D-PN numbers. But no matter what I do they all get scored as if they are PHRF, with the D-PN values getting used as if they are PHRF values.

Not sure if you have actually got what you wanted yet, but I have just Updated the one from the Resources section of the SailWave website to the 2010 PY numbers, merging in the old values where the RYA list no longer includes the boats. I have also resolved the issue with the RS Feva S & XL with advice from RS and added a few additional classes we have at MKSC.

Hi mark,
I just joined to find out further information regarding the PY for RS Feva. The PY of RS Feva XL is 1200 in PY 2010 and sailwave csv download which seems fine,(although its 1189 on the RS website).
What should the PY be for the RS Feva S , with
a )gennaker and a jib, or
b )without gennaker and jib?
The PY in sailwave csv download for the RS FEVA (= RS Feva S ?) is 1189, which does not seem right as it has a smaller mainsail than the XL. The RS website says the PY for the RS Feva S is 1280 (is this with a configuration a or b above?)
Extract from RS website
The Feva S comes with a "soft" unbattened mainsail and is the most versatile boat you could choose. Add a jib and gennaker, or even upgrade all the way to the superb RS Feva XL
Any help most welcome.
