Qualification Stretch

There are 37 races in the GMORA series and 6 trophy qualifications, not all
races apply to all geographic areas (see http://www.gmora.org/schedule.asp
for a table showing schedule and area breaks). Any suggestions how to best
handle this with Sailwave?

Overall Gulf of Maine Championship (Dirigo Bowl): The winner shall be the
yacht that (a) qualifies for the season championship by sailing the minimum
required nine race days, (b) accumulates the highest Rinderle B point total
determined by scoring the yacht's best nine race days and (c) sails at least
2 race days in an alternate geographic area. For example if a vessel sailed
9 race days ion the Eastern Area, she would still have to compete in at
least two race days in the Central or Western Area to qualify for the Dirigo
Bowl. There is no distinction granted to specific class participation.

Gulf of Maine Class A, B, C, D Championships: Best 9 race days count. Second
and subsequent place trophies if participation in class is sufficient.

Western Area Class A, B, C, D Championships: Best 8 race days count. Second
and subsequent place trophies if participation in class is sufficient.

Central Area Class A, B, C, D Championships: Best 4 race days count. Second
and subsequent place trophies if participation in class is sufficient.

Eastern Area Class A, B, C, D Championships: Best 5 race days count. Second
and subsequent place trophies if participation in class is sufficient.

Multihull Circuit Championship: Best 5 race days count. Second and
subsequent place trophies if participation is sufficient.

Thanks

I was trying to use the prizes function this weekend and ran into a couple of problems. We had multiple fleets sailing and had different trophies for each, but I was unable to set up prizes by fleet. What I wanted to do was have a prize indicated for the top competitor in each fleet. Any ideas how to do this?

Hi Mark,

You can't as it stands. Here's the history.

Sailwave was originally designed as a one file per fleet system. Gradually
things have been moving towards multiple fleets per file but it's not all
been moved over. When I do the work to allows an arbitrary definition of
fleets given a competitor list, it'll all be tidied up. For example, you'll
go into Edit+ScoringSystem on a fleet basis... (there will be facilities to
use the 'default' values or values based on another fleet etc etc). Once
this is done you'll be able to model the most complex regattas in one file.
With the exception of App KE that is, but that will be added later.

Colin

Not at present. However I have many pending requests that discar profiles
and/or qualification profiles are applied to certain subsets of races and
for the concept of 'race days'; it's something that does need addressing and
I've added your email to the collection on this topic. Sorry I can't be
more help at this stage.
