Qualifying for a Series and Calculating DNC

Would appreciate feedback if I am completely off-base

A five race series was held were to qualify for the series one had to
sail three races, and the series had no discards. Three of the boats
sailed the minimum three races to qualify for the series. The
remaining two boats sailed one race only, receiving DNC for the
balance. At issue is one of the three qualifying boats received an
DNC for the last race, however, that DNC was scored at 6 points.

In another format

Boat 1 1,1,1,1,1
Boat 2 2,3,3,3,2
Boat 3 3,2,2,2,DNC
Boat 4 DNC,DNC,DNC,DNC,3
Boat 5 DNC,DNC,DNC,4,DNC

At issue is how or what should be the number of points for DNC given
the above. I can exclude boat 4 and 5 from the scoring, but they are
not published with the scoring results. If I include them, the DNC
counts for 6 points and not 4 points. The difference determines who
has second place.

I'm I just miss interrupting the rules under Appendix A, or asking for
more than the application was designed to do? My wish list is that
the results shows all competitors, but calculates DNC only on boats
that qualified for the series. I was able to set the number of races
to qualify, but it still calculates off the total boats.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Qualification is not part of App A so you're not misinterpresting anything. But the Way sailwave works is to score the series as normal (ignore qualification profile) and then right at the end - mark some as DNQ appropriately. I can't see anu other way of doing it. If you want to then retrospectively rescore the series without the DNQ boats you can mark them as excluded.

What does your NOR and SI say as regards qualification?

What does you NOR and SI say as regards scoring? Appendix A Low Points.....

Are you using A9 Race scores in a series longer than a regatta?

Assuming you state that you are using appendix A, no discards, and 3 races
are needed to qualify for a final series score. The scoring looks correct...
DNC = +1 boats in series. There were five boats in the series, two of which
did not qualify for a final series score.
