Race Ratings and Aliases

I’ve just noticed with 2.97 that if I alias a competitor who has a race rating set up then the race rating is not carried over to the alias and the standard rating is used instead. Don’t know whether this is by design or just a trivia that’s been overlooked. Its not a significant issue for the way I normally use aliases.

I tested this in the current version. If you create an alias of a competitor that has a rating assign the new Alias competitor inherits the same value.

Are you talking about the competitors default rating or are you talking about the ratings for individual races. Creating an Alias of the competitor is just that, it Aliases the competitors properties it does alias overrides of the ratings which are attributed as results.

Let me know if you think I have misunderstood.

Yes, individual race ratings. So say I have a competitor who sailed race 3 in a different boat so has a different race rating set for race 3. The result on the alias by has no race rating, so uses the default rating.
Its not normally an issue, because in those circumstances I would normally have to use a.different race rating on the alias, but I’m in the middle of calculating next years personal handicaps, so I need to separate out all the class changes, and I was using aliases to help with that.
I’ll Its a headsup really in case that is not design behaviour, its not a significant issue for me.

Hi Jim,

Aliases are intended to created at the start of a series so it doesn’t copy results when you create an alias. An Alias is an alias of the competitor properties. So it is working as intended - Thanks anyway.
