I was at an event last week where all the Liberty class were racing against each other for the Liberty Open Championship
Some of the boats had a different specification & also qualified for the Liberty Servo Championship.
Scoring the Open & Servo championships was straight foreword until we had a time limit problem
In two races, some Servos were scored DNF because they finished outside the time limit from the first Open finisher but were within the time limit of the first Servo finisher
We needed to score such boats as DNF and a place. Our solution was to create a separate file for the Servo event & enter the placings again
For future reference, is there any way that SW can handle this situation?
Regards
Ralph
Sounds like a change to the Sailing Instructions would be in order!

The event was an ISAF grade W & the International class association insisted on this option.
This was an easy problem to overcome against the other option which allowed competitors to enter both single person & two person classes
Now that did require a few grey cells to manage scheduling, launching, recovery & changeovers :-o

I've asked simillar where we have a boat taking part ina single race that counts as two races. If only one boat competes in 1 race and 5 compete in the other our SIs say a race is only a race if 2 boats or more race. never come up with an answer.
(Our scenario is a small fleet within a handicap race. the fleet gets places as well as the handicap race. BUT if only 1 boat in the fleet races, they should only get the h/cap result, and the other race shouldn't even count as running..)
Thanks Calum
I suspected that this is beyond SW capabilities

As far as I know the new web version will be able to do it... but not sure of how Colin thinks the timescales will pan out for that. I know hes started releasing updates to Sailwave4Windows again because its taking longer than he wanted it to.
The only way it MIGHT be possible would be if an equation could be devised using these variables ( http://www.sailwave.com/help/HTML/low_point_expression.htm )to give you the answer. In my case THAT MAY be possible by doing something like number in race minus 1 to somehow render a zero score or something... not quite worked it out yet... But definately not sure how it would know in your case that the boat had DNFd one race but not the other...
