Dear Colin,
Please can you really consider doing race weighting i.e. set a weighting
for a race by which the points are multiplied e.g. if a boat finishes
4th and the race weighting is 3 she will score 4 x 3 = 12 points. It
seems simple and would be a real boon to calculating placement on our
official National Ranking Ladder. Please! Deadline is 10th December
2004!! How's that for cheeky?
Rob
Hi Rob,
As it happens I started it last night. Now I have the start records, it's
very easy to introduce race-specific adjustments. The advantage of using
the starts as well is that you can model different weights for different
starts. Not that start is a logical concept in Sailwave not necessarily a
physical one.
Regards,
Colin J

Hi Rob.
Done. Now part of next 1.58 beta (not uploaded yet). I look forward to my
holiday in Australia...
For low point point systems it acts as multiplier. For high point systems
is acts as a divisor. The race weight is defined in the start record, so it
can be different on a per start basis.
CJ
NB: race weighting has been on the todo list for ages (years) and is an
often asked for feature.
