RRS 2025-2028 changes the rounding for scoring of penalty points, this is supported in this version, so it is important that if the NoR specifies RRS 2025-2028 that you are using this updated version and it is configured correctly
To allow scoring of series files that are using the earlier version of RRS this can be reverted to rounding to whole numbers
Full details of this and the other changes are available at the link above
Note - I’ve noticed looking at others’ results that quite a few users have changed the round-off of calculated points to 0 - Although there are some results it is fine to do this with, generally you shouldn’t do this as Average, and scoring penalties will then be incorrect. If you really want the display to be less cluttered then use the suppress trailing 0’s - This does not affect the calculations but does make the result generation slightly slower as every number displayed has to be processed a second time.
Thank you for creating a new full Sailwave installation. However there is a small correction. The new Rules including the change to RRS 44.3(c) are now ineffect and RRS 2025-2028 doesn’t have to be included in the NOR, but RRS 2021-2024 must be included if you want to use the old rules.
Hi Jon
I’m having problems installing this, Win11 Pro. I keep getting:
and the install shuts down. A tmp file is requesting access, the name of which changes every time.
windows security is stepping in with ‘unauthorised changes blocked’ and the name of that particular instance of the tmp file. At the moment my old instalation has gone and the new one is not installed.
i7-1260P
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 23H2
Installed on 22/01/2024
OS build 22631.4751
so pretty similar, updating from what I had installed before (_33_0 or later), many directories and files are still there.
Standard ‘as bought’ security except internet. Windows asks me to give permission for new programs to access folders: easy to do and have done it for sailwave before but not this tmp file?
It gets to 'you are now ready to install, then:
and Windows Security also steps in:
I am the administrator so can override it. But pressing OK, it bombs out and the next time a different file name…
The path is there:
“C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sailwave\Javascript\CentreBurgee.js” but without the double backslash. Is that a glitch in the error catching report adding path and file together?
I am not familiar with the admin side of Pro so haven’t tended to play. I was quite happy to know I have to let programs access files.
Paul
Edit
I’ve tried removing "C:\Users\Public\Documents" from the protected folder list and Windows just ignores me, the Remove button is grayed out I think.
This worked, although I don’t think you should have to do this! I haven’t before for any installation .
Looking through the programs I have, and those I have had to give access, I can’t see any logic.
Thanks for your help,
Great that it worked and you have the latest version running.
As I understand Controlled Folder Access is not enabled as standard - certainly it wasn’t on, on any of my PC’s.
I’m assuming you enabled it on your PC - right?
You can configure which folders are controlled if you wish to turn it on
Sailwave uses Users\Public\Documents\Sailwave as a folder where users can store editable files for use with Sailwave as recommended by Microsoft. Originally in XP and before these were stored in sub-folders of the Sailwave Program folder but in latter versions of Windows Microsoft changed it that you have to have admin rights to write to these folders hence it was moved to the Users\Public\Documents\Sailwave folder. I guess if you clicked the remove in the image above it would allow you to install without disabling Controlled folder access
Alternatively you could allow the Sailwave installer access to the folders Customize controlled folder access - Microsoft Defender for Endpoint | Microsoft Learn
Hi Jon,
Clicking Remove does not work. I think all the folders like pictures, documents, downloads, music etc. are added by default and have remove disabled, so the only option is turning Controlled Access off. I think Remove is greyed out but that doesn’t show very well with my dark theme.
It might be that I turned Controlled Folder Access on, I don’t remember. It was originally pushed as ransomware protection?
Hi Paul,
Agreed. It seems silly but yes they appear to all be on permanently if you enable Controlled Folder Access. So you would have to allow the Sailwave installer access or disable it while you install.
