For those that have been following this thread - I’ve just had a conversation with Ian and the issue arose from the competitors were being imported from a csv without a rating, as opposed to entering them in Sailwave. The solution I suggest here is - Import them and then tick the autoset box and score. It will populate the ratings until it finds one that is not in the ratings file. Exclude this competitor for the time being and rescore - repeating until the whole file is populated. So all the competitors that have ratings in the rating file will now be filled with the ratings from the rating files. Now untick the Autoset ratings and un-exclude the competitors which you had excluded - you can now manually add the ratings for these. Adding any new competitors with Sailwave will automatically pick up any ratings that have been used.

Your not missing a trick. My problem is when a newcompetitor has a boat that isn’t listed in the ratings file.

Am I missing a trick here? I always thought the easiest way to adda new competitor was to find a competitor with an identical boat
and then click on "New Like” and amend the new details. That way
everything is the same apart from the Helm, Crew and Sail number. On 15 Sep 2017, at 14:09, Ian Frogley ian.frogley@ntlworld.com

I am possibly missing something, butwhen I enter new competitors into a Sailwave file,
they are sometimes sailing a boat that isn’t in
our ratings file. As most competitor boats are, I
use Autoset Competitor Ratings, but then I will
come up against the boat that isn’t listed. I then
have the option of opening up the rtings file and
including the new boat and rating, or just
entering all the ratings manually. Is there a way I can use Autoset, and only enterthe new boat’ rating manually. I am especially
asking as we are approaching our Barts Bash event
when we get a variety of unusual craft entering.IanF
