Ratings Files

Love the s/w, just one thing though. Just downloaded the latest PY nos .csv file and saved in in my Ratings folder and archived the 2016 version. Am I right in thinking that it will automatically change the ratings in a series for me. Just created a new series ready for the start of the season, copied from last years summer series as this has all the members so when I enter results for this new series the competitors details are already entered. I was hoping it would change all the PY ratings for me, - just had to do change all the competitors ratings one by one which is a bit time consuming, I must be doing something wrong I guess.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have just taken over doing the results for our local sailing club (Lee on Solent) and handraulically entered all boats, helms, crews, sail no’s an PY no’s into a “Master” document/file It has certainly given me an insight into sailwave and initially setting things up. Steep learning curve for me as I am not a Windoze person either!!!

Hi Colin,

If you open Scoring system and click the ratings tab then if PY

rating selected there should be a check box towards the bottom of
the window, labelled ‘auto set competitor ratings’. If you check
the box and then re-score the ratings should be updated. However,
remember to go and uncheck the box before entering any more
results if your club have any classes that do not use default
ratings, otherwise the changed ratings will be updated with
defaults next time scoring is done.

Note the class names in your file have to match exactly the names

in the ratings.csv file.

If you get warning messages about a class not in the ratings

file, you have two choices:

  • change the name to match the name in the ratings file
  • exclude theta competitor/class whilst you auto update ratings

    and then un-exclude
For example I just checked this procedure out using one of the
example Sailwave files and there was an RS700 no spin in the file,
but there is no rating for that config in RYA data.

Kind regards,

Huw
