Ratings for Hobie Dragoon w spi

Hi,

Can you help with a Texel Rating for a Hobie Dragoon with
spinnaker? Does the Hobie 13 w spi rating approximate it?

Also which rating system is preferred for multihulls SCHRS
or Texel?? What is the difference?

Hi Rob,

Can’t answer for preference between SCHRS & Texel, I will leave
that to others. However as to a Texel or SCHRS rating for a Hobie
Dragoon you could try using the calculators for both to give you a
rating value. SCHRS calculator built-in to Sailwave under Plugins Menu
bar item and for Texel there is an Excel calculator available for down
load at .

Hi Rob,

Hobe Dragoon in both configuration is listed on Texel was created specifically for the Round Texel Race and is a
Netherlends thing. However it is very popular elsewhere, we use it at
Mumbles for example because it pretty much equates A-Class, F18 and F16
which is what we find in practice, whereas SCHRS has a silly rating for
an A-Class. In general though they use pretty much the same forumlas
to get their values, unlike PY (and USA/Auz equivalents) of course
which is based on elapsed times…
