Ratings question

Hi, Our club belongs to PHRF-LO (Lake Ontario)who assings us our
ratings. This is what they use to determine the TOT ratings TIME-
ON-TIME Multipliers
TIME ON TIME MULTIPLIERS WITH SECONDS PER HOUR HANDICAP
Normalized to SP of 171 (sec/mile)
TOT = (685.411/(ASP+514.411)) J.Schneider's Simplification

SP TOT SEC/HR
-60 1.5084 1830
-57 1.4985 1794
-54 1.4887 1759
ETC.....

As I enter the competitors information, I use the PHRF-LO Rating
(ex. 1.5084) This number appears to be derived from the TOT formula
that sailwave uses for PHRF TOT ( (Corrected = Elapsed * (A / (B +
Rating)) ). The question is, when setting the scoring system to
PHRF (uses A and B) am i not doing the same thing twice when
calculating the results? If this is the case what rating numbers do
i use for the boats to avoid the double calculation?

I hope I explained this well enough, and excuse my lack of
understanding as I am new to this. Thanks in advance

Hi,

Yes you are correct. When using PHRF TOT most users enter the ASP part of
your formula and use the A and B fields in the rating system. In your case
I would use one of the generic time correction ratings like TCC and rename
the rating column appropriately. Or enter the AB fileds an use the ASP
value in the competitor records if you want to stick with PHRFTOT.

Regards,
Colin
