Morning Jim,
First of all here are two screen shots showing where the
Compatibility Files shows, and after I selected it.
<img src="cid:part1.01080200.07020800@ntlworld.com" alt="">
<img src="cid:part2.01010200.08080904@ntlworld.com" alt="">
I have had a look at your file, and wondered how you had selected
the competitors craft. I found that you have to select from the list
shown when you click on the blue wavy icon. For some reason, which I
haven’t bothered to take up, selecting from the list in the box
doesn’t seem to select from the ratings file. I am using 2.02 bld 5
I have attached my ratings file for you. It is a .csv file saved
from the downloaded Excel file. (.csv files are comma delimited
files, i.e. without all the formatting etc in a full Excel file)
I have copied this to the Sailwave group in case it is of help to
anyone else. I have no doubt that any errors I have made will be
picked up IanF
···
Thanks….have done all you say except that there
is no Compatibility Files option. The ratings file is
downloaded from Sailwave but is Huw’s ryapn file (don’t know
where to find your one) – it is Excel as that’s the only way
my computer will let me save it, but it says it’s an Excel
.csv file. I am using Vista and Sailwave2.00 build 6.
The only change is I no longer get the internet
connection error message
Sample file attached
Thanks
Jim

Re: Ratings
Jim,
I think we need to go back to basics. You don’t say what
version of Sailwave you are using, nor your Windows operating
system.
I will approach it assuming 2.02 v5 and Vista, which is what I
am using.
First, lets get away from the the ftp problem.
In the top menu
select SETUP
GLOBAL OPTIONS
uncheck "Check for new versions when starting
Sailwave"
Now for the Ratings.
I assume you have a .csv ratings file.
If you are using Vista you will find it by going to "Computer"
(Click on Windows Icon bottom left side of your screen)
Select C drive
Then "Program files/Sailwave/Ratings. If Vista you will get a
blank folder, so select Compatibility FIles in bar immediately
above window.
You should then see your ratings file
Now go back to Sailwave.
In the top menu
Select SETUP
Scoring System
Select RYA Portsmouth and Auto set competitor
ratings
Then OK of course.
You should then be sorted.
If not mail me your Sailwave file (.blw) and I'll have a look.

I am sorry to be a pain but I still can't get the ratings file to work properly. I have ensured the connect to internet box in Upgrades is checked and as far as I can see the ratings file I downloaded is on the right place.
I tried to post a message last night with attachments which doesn't seem to have appeared on the forum, today there isn't even an option to attach. Am I looking at a different version of the forum? Can't work it out.
I have taken the liberty of copying the log from the file I'm using below. Could you have a look for me and maybe reply direct to jimandsuestrother@gmail.com if you spot anything? I believe it is the connection to internet which is the problem as I can update a py manually, and the ftp error message is new, never used to appear, now appears for any Sailwave file I open.
Thanks
Jim

Hi everyone,
The 2011 RYA Portsmouth Numbers rating file available for download
from the Sailwave web site includes extra rating data over and above
the numbers published by the RYA and contained in Ian’s attachment.
If you just want 2011 RYA PN’s then Ian’s file is the one for you,
if you have multi-hulls racing under RYA PN with other classes the
the file from the Sailwave web site is the one you may need.
The additional data is for multi-hulls which do not get listed by
the RYA because there are either no returns made for the class or
insufficient number of returns. The RYA and SCHRS committee have
agreed a conversion factor from SCHRS rating to RYA PN see
.
Kind regards,
Huw

ian - its probablt this phantom fiel problem
with vista - can you try the latest dev release - on download page
of website. with vista/win7 its best to create a folder somewhere
for you have write access and can browse to and make sure
everytbody else has read access. you can use the default location
but it’s not naturally browsable to. MS deliberately do not
provide a common writable browsable folder.
