Re Order Races NHC testing

Guys. I'm a new sailwave user and in an attempt to see the outcome of scoring by RYA NHC I entered results race 1 to 11 from our 2012 series followed by races 12 to 22 from our 2011 series and then scored it as a whole series.

Is there a way I can simply move the order of the races without having to re-enter them as a new series?

I'd like Races 1 to 11 to be my 2011 races so need to move the columns as I've been challenged to see if the final race handicap numbers would be different that way.

I don't have excel.

Thanks in advance.

I would guess from what you have said that you really need to have 2 separate files as they are different series

You could consider using the save as to save the file as the 2011 version with a different name. then delete the 2012 races.

and delete the 2011 races from the original file

This way you will have a file for the 2011 series and a file for the 2012 series

Score the 2011 series first and then manually take the realigned ratings from the 2011 and enter them as the rating for the first race of the 2012 series for any boats that are in both series. Other boats will start the 2012 at the default rating

To do this I’ve made a short video

Would be interested to know if people would find a series of video’s useful

Thanks Jon. I deleted the 2012 results then scored the 2011 series and followed your video to create the re-align column. What I don’t understand is why the rating shown in the re-align column is not the same as the rating for the start of my 12th race in the series which has not been run i.e. it is never run, I simply put it in in order to be able to display the end of series rating?

Thanks

Hi Peter,

The realigned figures are different from the next race figures as they are adjusted to “normalise” them which takes into account any drift that may have occurred during the series. The ratings can drift using the mechanism that is used which is fine as long as its in the same series but they need to be normalised before they can be used in a new series. You need to see the RYA description perhaps if you want to understand the reasoning. Or perhaps someone here would like to explain it. Once you have scored the last race you can see the Realigned figures. Put these into the race 1 ratings of the new series (Not the default rating). You always need to have one more race in your file than the number that actually take place as it needs to have somewhere to store the ratings for the next race.

Hi Jon,

Understood… I have set the re-aligned ratings for the 1st race in my 2nd year series and can see the results.

When I publish them I’d like to show the rating for each boat in every race. How do I do that?

Cheers

Hi Peter,

If you press “F6” then “r” (or use the dropdown box), you can display the Ratings and you can publish them

See this short Video - use the pause if its a bit quick
