Anyone know of a real time finish program for recording sail number and
finish times.
I have a program to try out this weekend and wondered if there was a
tested solution.

The ones I am aware of are
Regatta Scoring Solutions - Tom Fischer of San Diego YC built a stand alone finish program, it just records sail numbers and finish times. Nothing fancy, but bullet proof which is what you want on the finish. It allows you to enter invalid or blank sail number, which is good until when you are trying to finish a 100 boat one-design fleet, you need the times, you can probably figure out the sail numbers from the paper or tape recorder later. Key West Race Week. Miami Race Week and Long Beach Race Week all use it for finishes. (WITH PAPER BACKUP AND TAPE BACKUP)
SailWave - has a real time finish mode. It wants a correct sail number, which you can’t always get before the boat finishes. Two boats bow to bow at the finish line far boiat just ahead, but you can’t get the sail number until after the near boat has finished. Works well for 10-20 boat regattas, because you can score the event in the same software.
ProLog - not sure what website it is on, but is similar to the Regatta Scoring Solutions program, but also does includes starts. If you have a large regatta it works better than SailWave (Sorry Colin).
I have tried all three and would rank them in the order I have listed them. Big regattas lots of over lapped finishers Sailwave real time finishes doesn’t work well as you can’t always get the sail numbers when the boat finishes, and sailwave won’t just log a time easily.
