Hi Jon
I installed 2.17.1 (without any problem), rearranged a fleet, rescored and
did not get the 'Recorded places must be positive numbers' message. So I'd
say that was fixed, thank you.
I did however still get multiple 'not in a start for race 1' messages and,
now that I know it is just a warning, simply ignored them.
You asked if these messages serve a useful purpose. Not from my point of
view because I am just using starts as a device for restricting the
rearrange tool to a single fleet. Because I am scoring grouped by Fleet I
would prefer to rearrange by Fleet or I guess a more generalised solution
would be to allow selection by any of the grouping fields.
Thanks again.
Hi Richard,
I would not really classify “xxx is not in a start for race yyy” - If it is one design racing and you are scoring by fleet it is quite likely that it is not going to affect the results but if it is handicap then it is very likely to affect the result. If you are getting this message then you have something not configured correctly. If you would like to send me the Sailwave blw file I’ll check it out.
My recommendation for the starts is such that the positions that you enter match those of the recording.
e.g. if you have two one design fleets crossing the finish line together then you put these in the same start. This way the results that you enter into Sailwave are the same as you record at the finishing line. This makes it easy to check and much less chance of an error. Then if you have competitor A say they finished just after competitor B where A and B are in different fleets then you can still put them in the correct place.
If the competitors are being recorded by time then the starts must reflect the actual start time.
Jon
