redress

I’ve been assisting colleagues who scored the recent AZAB race (Falmouth to the Azores and back again). A couple of boats were awarded redress in the form of a fixed time to be added or subtracted from their elapsed time. While it is relatively easy to adjust the time, it gives the impression that that was the actual time taken and other than add a note, does not reflect the adjudication.

I did suggest inventing a new RDG code which would then appear in the list of codes used as e.g. “time adjustment redress” or similar. But what would be neatest would be to be able to have an in-built code and option to give the redress time. As they stand, all the RDGs adjust places.

I can also envisage the situation where a jury awards (say) a 5% time penalty. It would be nice to have Sailwave calculate the adjustment and apply it. Ideally I’d like to be able to specify an arbitrary percentage.

Or have I missed an option somewhere which would do exactly what I want?

Hi,

You have not missed an option in Sailwave that would

automatically calculate a corrected where there is a plus or minus
time adjustment awarded by Jury/Protest Committee, or as has just
been asked in another post to the SUG how to deal with a 5% time
penalty.

I will leave Jon to answer if he feels a mechanism for

automatically :

  • adjusting finish time by a plus or minus amount actual amount

    of time [DD:MM:YY@HH:MM:SS]
  • adjusting elapsed by by a plus or minus %age amount
is something that could be done without going through to many
    coding hoops!

Kind regards,

Huw
