Registration

Hi,

I'm going to remove the registration concept; ~20
clubs/individuals/associations have registered in ~6 months so it's
not exactly a success story! Having said that I am extremely
grateful to those that have, because it has allowed me to purchase
some development tools that are being used for Sailwave2. Also, 2
cheques have gone missing and I think a CC solution is required which
I'll have to look into.

When Sailwave2 is 'solid' I *will* be doing something like a
registration scheme (using credit cards) or maybe actually selling it
(shock horror) as Sailwave-Pro (c.f MailWasher Pro) because I cannot
continue to justify the time and effort to my family without some
sort of financial (or equiv) renumeration *at some time* in the
future. I had no idea of the effort involved when I started this -
so much for just implementing Appendix A which is what I thought
would be involved...

If you have already registered, you will receive a free *lifetime*
licence for whatever scheme I dream up in the future and will
continue to appear as a sponsor on the website; I hope that this is
satisfactory; if not please contact me personally and I will refund
your cash.

Colin J

I was just on my way out the door to post you a mail order when your email
arrived. I’m rather shocked that so many people use your program, ask questions,
expect answers and modifications, and cannot make some small compensation
to you. The work load is huge. Having an easy to use scoring program makes
my job so much easier and leaves more time to drink the free beer provided
to scorers at our Club. Anyway, I shall meander to the post office then
to the Club to drown my sorrows at hearing the news. Bye, Donald

Hi Donald,

Free beer; I like the sound of that; it's the last race of our
Catamaran Winter series this weekend and 3 of us can win it - I
expect to drink lots of beer afterwards; it's by Birthday on Friday
too so I'll be "out drinking with the boys"...

I think the problem with registratiion was mine. I created it too
soon; before Sailwave was mature enough; and used cheques. I can
understand people not really wanting to send cheques through the
post - also something I didn't realise was that the bank charged me
$5 for cashing every dollar cheque!! A couple of people have just
sent me emails saying they would have registared if it'd been a
credit card system... Just for the record I'm not unhappy with
things - I just don't want to keep the system going as it stands.
I'll be back begging for your cash at a later date :-))

I just hope that the people who have registered do not feel let down;
but perhaps I can take this oppertunity to assure them that they'll
never have to pay a penny for any version of Sailwave and it's
derivitives that comes out in the future...

Regards,
Colin J

May I suggest 2 versions; one fullversion (Pro) wich include access to support, and one free. Also it has to be possible to pay “the old way”; I know alot of people that do not wan’t to use their creditcard on the net… (Also alot of Clubs don’t have cards)
