Removing Elapsed & Corrected Time %'s

How do I remove the Elapsed Time and Corrected Time percentages when
publishing results? Is there a way to customize the html output to
publish results other than just selecting columns to view?

Hi Terry,

The columns can only be removed currently by editing the resultant HTML.
The HTML itself can be formatted using a different set of CSS style
definitions - see sailwave/styles for examples - and the HTML produced by
Sailwave can be enveloped using HTML templates - see Sailwave/templates for
examples. Personally I find the % columns very useful and interesting - in
fact more so than the absolute times because they give you relative view of
the races. i.e. taking into account the fact that races will be a different
length through a series. Also, looking at the min/max percentages you can
see how cohesively fleets are sailing.

Regards,
Colin

Colin,
I see you find them helpful. But the multihulls are different....
We have such a mix of boats and portsmouth numbers are pretty useless
anyway, that the percentages don't mean anything to the sailors. I could
see it being useful for the monohulls, or if you have group of sailors who
race against each other all the time in the same location, but we usually
don't have the same group of sailors at each race and we race in different
locations each time so there's no consistency in conditions from race to
race. Plus they rig the boats differently and the default ratings for each
boat are always changing. Every one of the fleets I've shown the
percentages to all wanted them removed from their results. That will make a
lot of work for us if we decide to continue to use your program. (We post
all of the catamaran races for Florida on our Division 8 web site
www.divisioneight.org)

Also, tried to enter the start and finish times for each boat (all 20 boats
are registered with a different Portsmouth number). I'm running Windows XP
and Sailwave Version 39 Beta 2. The times calculated incorrectly when I
used that method of entering results. However, when I entered the elapsed
time the calculations for each boat were ok (with the exception of various
minor rounding problems).

The other difficulty we have with multihulls is calculating the default
rating for each boat. Do you have plans to incorporate the US Sailing
multihull rating adjustments in the program to provide an easier way to
calculate the default rating?

Thanks for your help,

Terry Loewen

Hi Terry,

The release version of 1.92 will have options to inhibit the Average speed,
E% and C% columns etc.

Also, tried to enter the start and finish times for each boat (all 20 boats

are registered with a different Portsmouth number). I'm running Windows XP
and Sailwave Version 39 Beta 2. The times calculated incorrectly when I
used that method of entering results.<

Can you give me a specific example so that I can debug it.

However, when I entered the elapsed time the calculations for each boat

were ok (with the exception of various minor rounding problems).<

Sailwave should round according to Appendix A. I like to fix actual scoring
bugs (like this and the above) ASAP, so an example of your rounding problems
would be useful so that I can sort it out. I need to get the rounding right
so that ties on elapsed time pop up as they should.

The other difficulty we have with multihulls is calculating the default

rating for each boat. Do you have plans to incorporate the US Sailing
multihull rating adjustments in the program to provide an easier way to
calculate the default rating?<

Yes, it's on the todo list. For now you would have to create variants of
classes with a rating value that include combinations of USSA PN adjustments
that you encounter frequently. In a way the USSA PN adjustments is a
publishing scheme rather then an integral part of the rating system - but -
I can see that the approach can be applied generically to good advantage.

Regards,
Colin
