Renumbering rank based on a non-standard tie-breaker

I hope that somebody can answer a question for me.

The optimist uses a nonstandard tie-breaker and I’m trying to figure out if Sailwave can rank boats based on this tiebreaker.

During the qualifying series section 7.2 as shown below applies.

To order the boats based on the above instruction I will need three sort fields, 1-Net points, 2-Country and last sailnumber. Sailwave has only two sort fields and I can get around the three field requirement by populating another field with the concatenation of the county code and the zero padded sail number. ie. AUS 12 becomes AUS00012.

With this new Sort Field I can now order the results correctly as required the Si 7.2.5. First by Nett and than by the sort field.

However, the rank as you can see below is incorrect. Is there a way to reassign the rank column?

Please note that these are not my sailing instructions. I tried to convince the class to use the standard RRS tiebreaker after the first day and SI 7.2.2 for the initial flights assignments, but I didn’t have any luck.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Peter,

You can use the Tools - Seed competitor field to populate the rank

Hi Peter,

Short answer is no Sailwave cannot automatically deal with the

situation the OA have decided regarding tie-breaks. I agree with
you the SI 7.2.2 & 7.2.5 you have listed is almost always
used for flight assignments only and not actually scoring

However, you can manipulate the rank column values using a

combination of what you have done and using Tools | Seeding

I have used for a class which like to have a final set of results in

Regatta rank order as a continuum of numbers for 1 to n, where n =
number of competitors in regatta.

Kind regards,

Huw
