Hi Colin
I have been a member of this group for a while and follow the
correspondance.
Currently using 1.83 - for our Club racing and regattas
Recently had to score a regatta with a number of classes and an open
class.
Set up into fleets and classes = had numerous starts = all went well
until we had some errors from the finishing boat. We needed to add
competitors positions into the results - this did not drop the
previously processed finishers down a place but gave ties.
Another problem we encontered was that the wizard remembers your
previous input ie: DNF or DNS and keeps bringing this up.
Is thier a way round these problems
thank you
Andrew Finn

In 1.87 use the menu Tools\Rearrange Recorded Places
This will allow you to select the competitor & move them up & down (don't forget to rescore)
the wizard remembers your previous input ie: DNF or DNS and keeps bringing this up<<
Not sure what you mean by wizard??
If you are giving a place to a DNC you need to edit the result (right click)& click on the Recorded
Result radio button for a place instead of a code.
This will automatically allocate last place position to the boat then you can then move it up to the
correct place as per the first query
Regards
Ralph

Have tried in 1.83 and works like a charm
Wizard is the sailno wizard
the wizard remembers what was previously inputted ie: DNS DNF etc
You then need to manualy input the balance of the results - in
position or place no the dnf or dns is remembered you then can change
manualy - very slow and data input person can make errors.
thanks

Good God, something worked!!

PS: If you've using the 1.8* beta it's better to keep up to date - as I
remember it 1.83 has quite a few weirdnesses to it. Most recent is 1.87 I
think. See files section of SUG or this link:-

Hi Andrew
I have just entered race positions through the wizard (1.87)
I entered the following:
sail no & accepted automatic 1
sail no & accepted automatic 2
sail no & overwrote 3 with dnf
sail no & accepted automatic 3
I tried this with other sail numbers & no problem with dnf etc staying in the input box for the next
sail number
I even cancelled further input of sail numbers, opened wizard again & it still displayed the next
valid position.
I also tried the above having closed down after entering a dnf
Still couldn't break it!!
Are you using wizard in a different way or has 1.87 fixed a problem in 1.83?
I don't know if Colin would agree but
I would tend to think that if you are upgrading each time there is a new development release, it is
probably not safe to stop upgrading as further upgrades usually fix a problem in a recent release as
well as enhance SW
