Hi Chris,
Once in your browser you can email the results from there (File+Send+PageByEmail in Explorer) or you can download the latest beta of Sailwave 37 from the bottom of the web page - this has a dedicated ‘publishing destination’ of an email - it uses MAPI - so your email client needs to be MAPI compliant - like Outlook and Outlook Express are…

Colin,
We use sailwave for results and find it excellent. We are building a club website and would like if the club officers could input results directly to the website by email. i.e. no uploading by middlemen.
Is this possible
Michael
Hi Colin
Yes but how do I put all 18 race results into one e-mail. Each time you open a different set of results it creates another e-mail message.
thanks
Chris

Chris,
I assume you mean you have 18 different sailwave files. If you publish each result individually by going to "Publish" then "Results" and then select "Publish to web document" you will have 18 different HTM files. These files can then easily be added as an attachment to any e-mail(s).
I do the results for Burghfield SC, most are done at home however some (e.g. open meetings where the results are required the same day) are done at the club. I then e-mail these to home as described above to upload them to the web site, so I know this system works - if this is the question you're asking!
To see the end results (pun intended!!) take a look at [www.geocities.com/bscresults](http://www.geocities.com/bscresults)
Hope this helps.

Micheal,
I don't know if you can input results by e-mail (you will have to wait for an answer from Colin) however there is another way round the problem. I assume by the way you say "no uploading by middlemen" you mean just updating an existing result. If you mean a NEW result the web site will have to be changed anyway to have the new link put in - much more work than just uploading.
If all club officer have access into the web site - probably by using the same FTP program with the same ID and passwords - then any of them can upload the published HTM file (the 'result' file that sailwave saves and turns into HTM format). However it is very important that the file that is uploaded is called EXACTLY the same name as the file it is replacing, this way no extra work needs to be done to the site and it will automatically pick up the new result when next visited.
Hope this is of some help.

Hi Michael,
Not using email but you can using FTP. Contact your service provider and ask them to set up an anonymous FTP folder - members can then use FTP to write results directly into that folder on your web site. You’ll then need a page linking to all the results which can either be maintained by hand or auto-generated using a Pearl or PHP script for example. It’s a little outside the scope of Sailwave at present - perhaps one of the web experts out there can help you with a more elegant solution (Simon…:-)). Some service providers don’t like anonymous FTP in which case you can use a pearl script and HTTP - search for “drall.cgi” using www.google.com or “upload scripts”…
Regards,
Colin

Thanks for the response. As you suggest updating by webmaster is relatively simple when officers email the results in .html format
