Are there any plans to support the Rinderle B High Point scoring system?

One other question, are you going to support Pursuit Starts? Right now I
have to switch to RaceSail to do the Pursuit Race calculations and then back
to SailWave to publish the results. I am looking forward to staying with
just Sailwave.

Thanks again for a great program. If you get Rinderle B and Pursuit scoring
in place I think all the GMORA member clubs (as well as GMORA itself) may
well standardize on SailWave.

It's probably because of the way our club does them. We have a
pre-published list of start times (we always sail the same length race) and
then just score as a one-design race. What calculations did you have in
mind...? If it's something that published a list of start times/offsets for
a given a race length (in time) then yes, I could do that fairly soon.

That's exactly it, given PHRF ratings, a start time for the first boat, and
course distance, what is the start time for each boat? That is what we need.
Thanks.

Colin,

For the UK and other countries that use the RYA Portsmouth Yardstick Scheme
the details of the calculation to produce start times for Pursuit Races is
published in YR2.

If you are interested I have an Excel spreadsheet that does the calculations
based on YR2, to give you the method.

Huw

Hi Huw,

Good plan, a generalised YR2 would be a good approach; the RYA sent me one
recently but I haven't looked at it yet; talk to you on Fri/Sat/Sun if you
have the time and if I'm sober! Good luck with the event...

We had a 'meeting' (in the pub) this evening about sailing RIOW because
Oscar Chess has done it a few times (we have 4 club entries) - but I must
confess the Solent tides just confused the heck out of me... In general it
seemed like sticking to the usual rule that if the tide is against you stay
inshore and if the tide is with you avoid the shore would work OK...
Actually we just want to get around in one piece; the last LD race being a
disaster...

See you soon.

Very Best Regards,
Colin

Please could you post your spreadsheet in the files area - thanks

I looked at the list of start times our Rear Comm Sailing came up
with and it doesn't look quite right.

Simon,

This scoring system seems almost identical to the Cox-Sprague method! The
only major difference I can see is Rinderle B has decimal points and Cox
Sprague integer points.

Could you explain any differences that I might have overlooked?

Kind regards,
Huw
