Rmembering Club members and Boats

Hi all,

Is there a slick way to manage club members and their boats from one
series to the next? I have taken to importing competitors from a
previous series but this isn't very efficeint. All boats are considered
to have entered and this distorts the number of entries etc. Also, the
transfer of competitor ratings and data seems a bit hit and miss.

Is it possible to set up a competitors look-up file that could be
applied across all club races/series?

Thanks, in anticipation.

At Alamitos Bay YC we create a “Master Regatta” into which we merge each regatta. You can then either use this as the starting point for the next regatta, or use a template and use the “include competitors from a Sailwave file” feature to include competitors as they enter.

If you use the “Master Regatta” as a starting point, make sure that you exclude all the competitors, using the “set competitor field” tool, otherwise, as you observed, you end up with a skewed number of entries. Also once you have all the entries make sure you delete excluded competitors.

Hope this helps

There is a Sailwave user guide on the ABYC website that you might find of help as well. http://www.abyc.org/upload/Sailwave_ABYC_User_Guide.pdf

We open the most recent series and immediately save it with the
name of the new series. Click Edit/Clear results to remove all the results
from the previous series. Then click Edit/Mark all unsailed competitors as
excluded, click Edit/Mark all sailed competitors as included and click View/Hide
excluded competitors. ALL competitors now are hidden and none will be scored
as DNC unless and until they actually are scored at least DNS in a race. When you
use the Sail num wizard to score each race, each excluded entry will be marked
as included as soon as they have at least one score.
