Well, I have Sailwave running on a Mac w/ 'Parallels Desktop for Mac' installed. It really would surprise me, if it is not possible to run Sailwave with 'Parallels Workstation for Linux'.
The thing is that you have to have an installed version of M$ on your machine; it's just a virtualization solution but running M$ in it...
I had to set the emulation to windows 98, also installed the tahoma.tff font. not 100% sure if they font helped but I had to do it anyway to get another program working.

Hi Dazz, just upgraded my Ubuntu to 7.04 together with the latest ver
wine. Set emulation to win 98 as per your recommendation and sailwave
installed just fine (like lightning in fact!). It opened quickly,
loaded an example series which could be scored and unscored, but i
can’t yet edit individual entrants or indeed use any of the window
slide bars or do any sorting by race.

Still gotta keep a windoze drive i suppose!!

Greets from Switzerland,
Just for information, I have just got Sailwave running under openSUSE 10.2 after installing Wine v0.9.24. I then copied the Sailwave folder from my Windows partition to ~/bin directory and typed ‘wine ~/bin/sailwave/sailwave.exe’ in a terminal window.
Like others I cannot resize the columns or do any sorting by columns I chose.
To edit a competitor I have selected the competitor row and then used EDIT | EDIT COMPETITOR from the Menu bar
To edit race information I use the Edit Race button on the first window of Sail Number wizard
These are the things I have found so far
I found that I could lock the Sailwave window if I clicked the OK button on the splash window that shows when Sailwave is started.
In the terminal window I get repeated the following error message - fixme: keyboard:X11DRV_ActivateKeyboardLayout 0x8090809, 0000:stub!
The above testing was done using one of the example files.

Hi Colin, thanks for the offer but i fear fiddling to try and make it
work is all that i could do. My technology skills are not high enough
to be able to do this justice. I imagine Huw is more tech savvy than
me.
Did you ever get ubuntu working on one of your systems? This latest
version is just incredible, fast, stable and if you’re really into it
amazing desktop effects that easily out vistas vista… all, of course,
completely free!!
I'm busy at the moment but when i get some time at some point i can take a look.
It’s a while ago but i did do some dev work on wine as well so i can probably take a look at it from both sailwave side and also look at problems in wine as well.
But it will be a few weeks before i have any time.
