RYA YR2 SPREADSHEET

I am trying to get Sailwave results into the RYA YR2 spreadsheet. I
can save results into Excel ok, from publish, but the RYA YR2
spreadsheet requires finish times in hh:mm:ss format. All our SW
results are entered in hh.mm.ss format and I can't find a way to
change this, either in SW or in Excel. To enter in hh:mm:ss format is
very slow as you have to use the shift key to get the ':' symbol.
So far I can get all the data into the RYA spreadsheet with no
problem, but have had to re-enter all the finish times in the hh:mm:ss
format for the RYA spreadsheet to work.
Is there a way of converting from hh.mm.ss to hh:mm:ss, either in SW
or in the saved excel file, before pasting into the RYA file.
If we can crack this, we have a fairly simple way of getting SW data
into the YR2 spreadsheet for PY adjustment and YR2 return

It’s easy to do in Excel.

Open the Excel file.

Select the cells (probably full columns?) that contain the hh.mm.ss
results.

Then select Edit - Replace – and enter “.” (i.e. full
stop without the quotes) in the Find What box and enter “:” (colon) in the Replace With box.

Then select Replace All.

Voila!

Hopefully this is the answer you require.

Mike,
Once you have the file in Excel, Excel will allow you to do a simple
find "." and replace with ":". This can be done either for a
highlighted group of cells or for the entire worksheet. Once changed,
you can use Format>Cell>Number>Time so that your program will
recognize the new format. Hope this helps.

assuming I understand problem correctly and you are using Microsoft 98,
XP or Vista then if you go to "start" , "Control Panel", "Regional and
Language Options". In this I would expect you to have "English (United
Kingdom" as your language selection. Select "Customise" and which
should bring up the window "Customise Regional Options" then select
the "Time" tab. Here you can change the time seperator to a . and the
time format to hh.mm.ss
If you do this excel, and by default the RYA downloaded PY sheet, will
work in this format for time calculations and so will sailwave. In
fact sailwave will work with a mixture you can enter both hh.mm.ss and
hh:mm:ss on the same sheet and still get correct answers.

response so quickly. I tried Pauls method first and that worked -
terrific.
