Sail Number Wizard Hassle

Last weekend I was scoring a large handicap event (65 boats). I used the
starting time / finishing time facility under Sail Number Wizard to derive
elapsed time for the various starts.

This worked well for the first start (Lasers - 0:3:0). However for
subsequent starts, the new starting time was not registered (remembered).
For each new entry, the starting time was shown as 0:3:0 and I had to amend
it each time. Occasionally a new entry did show the correct value, but next
time it reverted to the previous value.

I was doing the scoring with Sailwave 1.50 on an elderly laptop (P1 / PII ?)
with Win98. Would that have had an influence on this behaviour, e.g slow
update of a disc variable

I also had havoc in results due to incorrect entry of no. of laps for some
boats, but that was purely operator error!

Hi Malcolm,

Improvements WRT starts is in progress. Currently you need to set the start
time for one boat in each fleet; Sailwave'll then catch on when using the
wizard. The proboem with things as they stand is a rigid relationship
between fleets and starts; this is not always appropriate and the new system
decouples things; essentially so that you can define 'how the boats sailed
to get their results' and 'how I want to score the results' as separate
multiple entities.

Colin

PS: every time I send a msg to the SUG I get a bounce from the Royal
Southern Yacht Club - is it just me...?
