We have exactly the same problem at our club. At the moment we do the same with adjusting
the PY when entering the result. As to SI’s we
don’t have anything specific about helms being allowed / not allowed to change
boat during a series but given one of our series runs for 9 months it would be
unfair for someone who has sold their boat and bought a different class to be
penalised, also for the members who use the club boats that don’t have there
own yet will change boat class from week to week depending on what is available
when they arrive and those members are the ones to be encouraged. If it were to become a problem at our club
then a change to the SI’s to allow change of class, the only limitation would
be that changes between Slow / Fast Handicap fleets would be treated as separate
series results. It would be very useful feature for us to be able to change the boat
for a specific race when entering the result especially with the new online PY
filing coming in.
Thanks

Subj: RE: [sailwave] A single helm using different boats during a handicap series
You can change the handicap used on a race by race basis so corrected
times are worked out for the boat being sailed.
The results only show for 1 boat so the only real indication that this
has happened is the handicap used.
But that works well enough for us.

Subject: [sailwave] A single helm using different boats
during a handicap seriesHello all,
Over a handicap race series, is there a way of using sailwave
to calculate results in a series when a competitor has changed boats? An example would be where the helm changes from a laser to a
solo half way through the series? Thanks
