Our group of Illusion sailors built a floating device which could be moored to the IDM/ODM. It used some form of timer and hooter to start their races and could be adjusted for handicap races I expect. Very ingenious.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I am sure we can figure out something if this goes through.
We are on a small lake surrounded by trees, so we can’t count on a fixed wind direction, but I am liking the rabbit start and self timing the most at this point. If we end up with enough interest we can always switch to a regular RC down the road.
