[sailwave] App LE stype flights

Hi!

I'll prefer the way it is now.

Locking data is not the way to go: Redress is one thing, a human mistake is another.

I might have been a little negative about how SW works out right now, but I do think the solution is right around the corner!

What about a way of forcing the user to create starts when creating a new race? Inhert is a function that can be used then....

Also, maybe a Wizard-like thing when creating a new series. Do you want to create:

Fleet racing?
Flight racing?
Team racing?
....

Hi Colin

I've had a quick look at some other software - (something I try not to do
least I get influenced) - and they seem to take the easy route of locking
race results.
DON'T WORRY, WHY INVENT THE WHEEL AGAIN IF SOMEONE ELSE HAS ALREADY DONE IT!
THERE IS ALWAYS SCOPE FOR IMPROVING IT BY ADDING PNEUMATIC TYRES!!

So you can then change the competitor flight for the next
race - when you rescore R1 (say) is locked so its reaults are not affected.
No need for race flights. This is easy to understand and easy for me to do
but is it good enough? - if it is I'll move to it because it's easier to
understand for the user than race flights (which has caused confusion).

The problems I see are that you're half way through a series and find you've
made a big mistake in an earlier race - how to you go back...?
EXACTLY - MISTAKES, REDRESS WILL REQUIRE RE-ENTERING THE RACE DATA AGAIN!!

You also loose an overview/history of who was in which flight - i.e. as per the race
flights view in Sailwave.
I DON'T SEE THIS AS ESSENTIAL BUT OTHERS MAY DO.

Anybody used other software in this way (locking)
and is it OK...? Or can anybody think of another easier way to the way I do
it now (assigning race flights).
I SUSPECT THAT EVERYONE IS STRUGGLING WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FLIGHTS.
THE ABOVE METHOD OF LOCKING WORKS BUT CAN WE EVER GUARANTEE AN ERROR/REDRESS FREE REGATTA?
THE ANSWER IS OBVIOUSLY NO & SUG WILL BE ASKING FOR A FACILITY TO EDIT PREVIOUS RESULTS!!
