Sailwave Confused?

Hi Guys

I'm having considerable problems with one of my series. In that Sailwave seems to be cross linking competitors.

I have 6 races in the series so far, but for the 7th race I have 5 new competitors. When I import those competitors from another series they immediately show times for earlier races. Times that were achieved by existing competitors. Trying to delete the time for the newly imported competitor for the earlier race, also deletes the achieved time for the existing competitor. Somehow Sailwave seems to be linking the existing competitor to the newly imported competitor.

  Help!

thanks
Tony

Have a look at the Alias tab for the new competitors (and the ones
that they seem to be linked to). Any clues?

On user interface where you set options you need the tick box competitor aliasing.

Sorry, now out of my depth :frowning:
(Personally I'd be deleting the newly imported competitors and doing
clean new entries by now, but I appreciate that this may not be an
option for you.)

Tony

Thanks for the suggestions Mike, that was exactly what I decided to do, I went back to the saved version before this last race, created the new competitors from scratch, and then entered the race, and that seems to work OK.

I think there's something hokey about importing competitors, perhaps to do with their ID number in the other series conflicting with a competitor's ID in this series.

Anyway as far as I'm concerned importing is bad news, and I'll avoid it.

thanks

You do have to set the alias

Before import you could have resaved the series without and race details and then they would not be imported.

I do not know what further to suggest.

I had a similar problem and this was also not bound to aliassing.

Micro Class is normally ranked on elapsed time as scratch and in three divisions.

However some nations, with small fleets, rank also on handicap.

The annual national ranking is published after the second regatta. The elapsed time is scored, and all regattas are configured with name and date.

Then the file is saved, then saved as a new file, results are cleared and handicap ranks are entered. Competitors of the last three years are present, but excluded in both files.

Now comes the third regatta, with a lot of new competitors. I enter the new boats in the first file, then import them in the second file.

The behaviour of Sailwave is strange.

I didn’t display the excluded competors, so some were accidentally duplicated.

When I used the Sail Number wizard, the boat was also displayed twice. I couldn’t see which of the entries was excluded.

And when I tried to clear one, both were proposed to clear.

So I stopped the operation, saved the file, quitted Sailwave, drank a whisky, watched a sailing programme on TV, launched Sailwave again, re-opened the second file, and now it was working properly.

There must be a bug somewhere, but I suggest the following:

  • Close the regatta file, then re-open
  • if you are unlucky, close and quit Sailwave, launch and re-open
  • further, if it doesn’t work, go further, close Windows and re-start…

Hello

I am a complete newbie to Sailwave and am now the designated scorer for our GHYRA race series on Lake Ontario.

How do I associate PHRF TOT (time on time multipliers) scoring with my results. I have tried a couple of tests where I input start and finish times for my mock fleet but Sailwave is not scoring them based on Time on Time.

I have only clicked on scoring system and selected PHRFTOT but its not working at this point. I get the impression that I have to load another file for it to score based on the PHRF Rating and then associate a rating field with my competitors.

Thanks for you help.

PHRF requires A and B values… these are probably not configured.

There should be a good reason for that, but these fields appear only when you select [ User Interface ] (*) Pro - additional facilities and [v] wind indexed ratings

Then you come back to the [ Scoring Systems ] _/ Rating System _ and you set the A and B fields for the formula c = e * A / (B + r)

Ask specialists of PHRF ToT which A and B are recommended…
